This Privacy Policy explains how Helping Hands of Georgetown, Inc. (“Helping Hands,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and protects information when you visit helpinghandsgtx.org (the “Site”), contact us, volunteer, or make a donation. Helping Hands is a nonprofit organization recognized as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code (EIN 81-2170786).

Information we collect

Information you give us. When you submit a contact or volunteer form, make a donation, or email us, we collect the information you choose to provide — typically your name, email address, phone number, and any message or details you include.

Donation information. Donations are processed by our third-party payment provider, Givebutter. We receive your name, contact details, and gift amount so we can acknowledge your gift and keep accurate records. Your full payment-card details are handled directly by Givebutter and its processors; we do not collect or store your card number.

Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our Site and its hosting provider may automatically log limited technical information such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages you visit, for security and basic site operation. We use Cloudflare Turnstile to protect our forms from spam and abuse. See our Cookie Policy for details on cookies and similar technologies.

How we use your information

• To respond to your questions, requests, and messages;
• To process and acknowledge donations and provide tax receipts;
• To coordinate volunteer sign-ups and participation;
• To operate, maintain, and secure the Site;
• To comply with legal, tax, and recordkeeping obligations.

We use email addresses only for these transactional purposes — replying to you and sending donation acknowledgments. We do not add you to a marketing list without your consent.

How we share information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share information only with trusted service providers who help us operate, and only as needed for them to perform their services:

• Givebutter — donation processing;
• Our website host and Fluent Forms — hosting and form submissions;
• Cloudflare — security and spam prevention (Turnstile).

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect the rights and safety of Helping Hands or others, or in connection with a legal process.

Cookies and tracking

We currently use only essential cookies needed for the Site to function securely, plus the cookie-consent tool that records your preferences. We do not currently use analytics or advertising cookies. For full details, see our Cookie Policy.

How long we keep information

We keep donation and tax records for as long as required by law (generally at least the period required for charitable and tax recordkeeping). We keep contact and volunteer information for as long as needed to serve the purpose it was provided for, and then dispose of it securely.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to object to certain uses. To make a request, email us at [email protected]. We will respond as required by applicable law.

Helping Hands does not sell or share personal information for advertising, and as a nonprofit is generally exempt from certain state privacy laws (including the California Consumer Privacy Act and the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act). We nonetheless honor reasonable requests regarding your information as a matter of good practice.

Children’s privacy

The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Security

We use reasonable measures to protect information, including SSL encryption on the Site and spam protection on our forms. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Third-party links

The Site may link to third-party websites and services (such as Givebutter). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties; please review their policies.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Effective” date above shows when it was last revised. Material changes will be posted on this page.
